SPRING
Mammoth Lakes has an average yearly snowfall of 353
inches, or 30 feet, which allows great skiing well into
spring and it's not uncommon for lifts to stay open
until July 4th. This is just the start of what spring
in Mammoth has to offer. Springtime is the time for
skiers, sun-seekers and fishermen to find a lot of fun
and adventure in Mammoth.
Only in Mammoth do you have the option
to ski and fish all in the same day. Put the kids
in snowboard or ski school to start a leisurely morning
on the slopes, then soak in the sun on the deck at Canyon
Lodge for lunch. Mammoth Mountain has plenty of events
planned to go with spring break celebrations: Watch
the Dave McCoy classic for some serious ski racing or
check out the pond skim and Sumo wrestling at Canyon
Lodge for a few laughs.
At night the festivities continue with
concerts for all ages at Canyon lodge. For the 21 and
up crowd, check out the nightlife in town. The fishing
opener at the end of April is a popular time to try
your hand at catching the "big one" or a tagged
trout worth $5,000 in the spring fishing derby.
The local golf courses have cleared the
snow away and are in full swing, so to speak. The PGA
rated, 18 hole Sierra Star course opens as of June 25th,
as well as Snowcreek's nine holes and driving range. |
